FYI

My 2001 Texas skiff stolen out of my driveway early this morning, between 4:15 am and 7:45am

The boat was parked in the Hamlin middle school area.

No trace of a broken lock or sign of saw filings even though it had a hitch lock on the trailer.

It has a 70 horse two stroke Yamaha, 6' white power pole, and a 4' high center console casting tower from Boeker marine aluminum. The windshield has "Laguna Lady" graphics on it. it was on a single axle aluminum trailer with no tags.

I've been back in this area for twenty four years and have never heard of this type of theft.

I am posting this to ask for help in keeping an eye out for the boat or any used parts for sale, and to warn boat owners to be aware of the fact there appears to be some professional boat thieves working in the area.

Please contact me with any info regarding similar thefts or boat/parts sightings.

PS: I had let the insurance on my boat expire several years ago as it seemed, after nine years of no claims, a waste of money. I will suffer a total loss on the value of the boat if it is not recovered. Thanks in advance for any and all assistance.

Do you have the TX number or anymore identifying marks on the boat or the trailer? The way this group found the red truck with the cooler earlier this week, finding a boat, motor and trailer should be a breeze unless the thieves take it out of the area entirely.

I had my boat stolen on the island a few years ago with a 90 yamaha 2 stroke on it. The 70&90's are favored by those out here in the bluff. I drove around the bluff and found mine abandoned on a street just off SPID. Another friend of mine had his boat with a 90 stolen off Peerman in Lamar Park, and same thing, it was found abandoned on Carribian off of Flour Bluff Dr.

The bluff may be a good place to start looking. Make sure you report it. I think that there was a ring busted doing it, so they may want to question the "usual suspects".

Check with your insurance agent that handles your homeowners insurance
might be able to file a claim because the boat was at home.

Jeff,
Sorry to hear of the theft. I absolutely hate thieves! Will nose around and keep a trained eye out for it.

First, thanks for the feedback from all.

My Homeowners insurance is giving me a $1,000.00 credit against my $2,000 deductible, so not much there.

Interesting info regarding the two other thefts. i will start looking around that area and will talk to CCPD about those previous cases.

Boat registration number is TX 4293JL

And , Hey Bruce , good to hear from you.

it's important you report the boat / motor & trailer stolen
if a LEO runs it, they are busted, plus they will often investigate further

report it asap

Thanks

I reported it first thing and was told it was probably in a garage somewhere being stripped down and if it was found would be largely a matter of luck.

I'm hoping that with you guys help, my luck quotient will be greatly improved.
