I know it sounds stupid but I never fish with bait (in the laguna) but I think I may give it a go this weekend. The water is doo-doo brown and the wind is going to be howling. I will have two family members who aren't big fisherman and want to take home some fish. I am just wandering should I get some rattling corks? Freeline? Shrimp or croaker? I have a live well I have just never used it. I don't need any locations just curious what my best bet would be in these wonderful conditions.

x2. You might want to try a popping cork that pops the surface of the water more than rattles. They are both good though. Good luck

Rob Id try some fish bites. Better than bait in my opinion and last alot longer on your hook. Idea

I always have fishbites around to catch bait in the surf. I was thinking rattling corks would be a little more exciting vs. soaking bait. Thanks for the input.

Can't go wrong with cut shad (menhaden) this time of year.

I am going to hit the water tomorrow but no boat. My son found a ton of croaker throwing the cast net yesterday. I might see if I can keep some alive overnight.

Used to love DOB (dead on bottom) when the kids were younger, cut mullet was always my bait of choice, good luck out there...G
