Howdy!
I am trying to plan a trip from San Antonio for this weekend, but still undecided. I would probably arrive Friday evening at the earliest (more likely the middle of the night). Sounds like I will miss the BTB trip if I do decide to drive to The Island. If I make the trip and weather permitting, anyone want to try BTB on Saturday. I have not been further out than a couple hundred yards and have been wanting to hit a rig or two real bad, hopefully with someone that has experience offshore.
I will be watching NWS forecasts throughout the week and if things still look good, I should be able to come down. I'd be driving down on my own unless anyone wants to form a convoy or let me join theirs. If there aren't any takers, I will probably drive down PINS and setup camp somewhere near Bigshell or maybe fish the Packery and Bob Hall areas. Either way I'll post an update Wednesday night or Thursday afternoon with a decision. Here's hoping things work out well. |

Clint, it looks now like Saturday may have flat seas, but the wind is forecast from the North at 20+. I'm pretty adventurous, but not willing to fight that wind trying to return from BTB and building waves in my face. Did it once, won't do it again.
Also, I have NEVER had a kingfish bite during a North wind.
I am watching for any excuse to get out there, but this may not be the weekend for it. |

ARRRRRRRRRRRRG!!!
Looks like forecasts have changed quite a bit over 24+hrs. I will pray that the surf and winds are ideal on Friday and Saturday for all who are trying to go out those days. It'd be a blast to go out with a good group of like-minded fisherman and learn some stuff, bring home some fresh fish, etc.... |
