FINALLY! I got a chance to take out my new Jackson Cuda...Big thanks to the crew over at YakShack in Portland!
Took me a while to get the timing down to loading and unloading and i still need work with it but this yak is AWESOME!
Compared to my T-100..
Fast, easy to paddle and maintain a speed
cut my 15 minute paddle to about a 8 min
Going against wind isnt bad as all takes a bit to get going but once to you its easy to maintain
its a VERY dry ride
the scuppers are loud once going but once you get your yak moving it stops or use scupper plugs
It is SOOO easy to stand on this yak i can do handstands on this thing...
storage is awesome but im not use to it so im having a hard time figuring out how to organize
The seat..AWESOME! in my T-100 no matter how dry i stayed i always had a wet butt at end of day...no wet butt with this seat its just awesome and comfy!!
any questions just ask!
anyways now the report!
Wednesday the 21st..
First day out on the yak..still no rigging so no anchor or anything just drifting and getting a feel for the kayak...
Found my way into a old summer spot and started standing looking for reds...but i found something else..
school of drum
tried sightcasting from the yak but winds started moving me...managed 4 or 5 until i had to beach up and have some fun wading to them had about 20 in about 1 1/2 hours...
was nice getting the first fish in the yak..
Thursday...22
Took off to meet with Team Oso Oscar and Robbymott from TKF
Got to the water in the AM and Found Robby
he zoomed off to find trout in the surf-n-go (that thing is awesome)
me and oscar drifted around in the cudas trying to find trout and reds but it was a no go ended up going back to find some drum
tried one spot and it was SLOW so we decided to go back to another spot beach up and just hang out and enjoy the day
that plan was interrupted however with drum...
Left with our limits, Robby had his own adventure ..wheres the report amigo? hehe
Saturday 24th
was set up to head out with amigos but plans fell through so im heading out alone
met with EZ-E and Scotty (was scotty right?) from TKF..cool guys they were taking off to try there luck at another launch waiting on there report hehe
Launched and it wasnt glass as predicted even though there was no wind...i knew what that meant..east wind =/ it was gunna be one of those days..
trolled about 4 miles..nada
drifted back about a hundred yards shallow then paddle back to drift deep and repeated all the way back...one bump and only seen one red (i think)
winds picked up a bit and had to paddle out to try and help a guy that flipped his kayak, luckily he was tall enough to be out the water and walk it back
i threw out for drum and started hitting them but not enough to get the 4 i needed for kayak wars...changed a lot of places jumped a lot of sand bars picking up one or two from different areas...finally the winds made it choppy pretty good and i stayed in the usual spot picked up what i needed and headed home
ran ito yakattack and stangman (good seeing yall out there)
they went to where i was fishing...a few hours later i get a pic text from them with a sick trout and a redfish...*sigh* should have stayed =/ lmao
waiting for that report as well !
anyways it was a good weekend of great weather and i lOVE my Jackson Cuda _________________

Regarding you new Yak--have you left the seat down low or in its higher position. Have seen the companies video and it looks fantastic.
Good luck fishing. _________________ A little salt water in your veins is good for you! |

| and afollowup question, do you find you might need a little longer paddle if you are in the high position? THat is one of my concerns. Otherwise the thing looks like a tank. |

When paddling long distances i paddle low seat....and for quick point A to Point B i leave in the high seat...sits a lot higher then you might think but it doesnt mess with stabillity as much as you would think...
From the high position the 240 is just below perfect i would like a longer paddle ....the entire blade wil go under the water but when i get lazy i find a little of the blade out the water _________________
