I thought this to be rather rediculous. Someone is WAY over reacting over a feral hog taken on land that is questionable. I could certainly understand over a trophy buck but a hog? Come on!

Overreaction? Yes. Is the poor guy legally in the right? No. I would like to see King ranch soften its stance, but others would see it as an open invitaiton to ignore the property lines of the ranch.

The man seems nice enough, but King ranch did post a notice on his feeder to inform him it was on their property and to stop hunting there. He chose to disregard the law and unfortunately, it's about to cost him. The Caller Times seems to be casting it in a David vs. Goliath light, but it is what it is.

We faced a similar thing a few years ago, where a neighbor (a very large property owner) changed our traditional agreement (hunt up to the fenceline) back to the legal property boundary (stop at the creek). I have to respect the legal boundary or answer to the law, a lesson this man is learning the hard way.

Prof Salt I do totally agree with you on that issue. Yes he was aware of the lines and should have not shot it. But, a slap on the wrist by Mr Goliath and say Dont do it again would have been enough I think. But then again maybe they are just trying to set an example to all the REAL poachers out there and this guy just got caught in the crossfire. Either way pretty interesting read. Now I'm craving some good bbq hog!

the king (and kenedy) have always been really good at determining what their property boundaries are.... funny how their lines always seem to be larger than they previously were...
