Thought I'd brag on my kids a little bit, they made me proud last weekend. We camped at Y pass and I took them out Monday morning in the yak, conditions were glassy and dolphins were putting on a show I wanted the kids to see. I took my 3 year old Walker out 1st with a spinning rod and dead shrimp on a mission to catch both kids 1st unassisted fish. After 3 casts he is patiently holding his rod when I see the line moving, I tell him get ready while I am sweating it a bit because he is holding my Shimano Sustain and Castaway combo, then he feels the fish and cranks in a big old hardhead.

We went back and took pics and told him he was the man, then me and my 5 y/o daughter go out, I'm nailing trout left and right with a lure and she says she wants to try to catch one on a lure, not shrimp. I went along with it and she literally nailed a keeper the 1st cast, I don't know how the trout hit the lure she was working it so wildly, but she obviously grasps the concept and made my proud.

Man! I couldn't see the picks, but with an 8 month old daughter, I can't wait to go fishing with her. I heard a song about a guy who took his daughter fishing and said, "She thinks we're just fishing" in the lyrics.

That's gotta be one of the best trips ever for you. TFTR Very Happy

That is terrific, Robert. There is absolutely nothing better than hunting and fishing with your kids. Now that's being a great Dad!

How is the water clarity down south in the yarb. area??? Heard it was off color about 1 month ago, wondering if it has improved(on day when the wind isn't gale force).
