Howdy!
Seems like it would be easy enough to use a length of PVC pipe cut in half. Diameter and length could be selected for appropriate use. Ruler could be permanent marker or sticker from the store. In the end you'd have two for the price of one...sell or give one as a gift. Cost should be about half that of Cabela's and other retailers.
What do ya'll think? Has anybody tried making their own like this? |

Then, if you measured every inch just a little short your catch would look bigger in pictures...

Yeah you could do that but not really what I had in mind. That would be a foolish thing to do for people in tournaments or keeping fish to eat. Officials wouldn't use you ruler to measure the fish and one can get in some trouble cheating tournaments or keeping illegal fish.
I'm honest, like DIY projects, and thought this could be fun and save a little cash. |

or you could use fingernail polish and mark all of your rods.

I have one of the aluminum rullers and it works okay but as I think about having a tape in the bottom of a channel that makes a lot of sense. It should be easier to keep the fish in place and get the measuring done faster with less stress maybe.
PF, I use the nail polish on the rod trick as well. No fussing with tapes when your on a wade.

I use colored tape on my rods and have a code for each species I fish for and want to keep. Works for slot limits as well with the different colors for each fish. Makes measureing real easy and is never left behind, _________________ Fishinjack |

I do that too, I have a white rod I wrote slot limits with a sharpie and put clear fingernail polish over it, works quite well. |
