Just looking for some info on Blue Crab. Im new to the area and im trying to figure out what time of year you can get Blue Crab and where around Corpus is a good area to try. Iv seen on youtube where people use chicken necks tied on a line and neted once close to shore does that work around here? what about traps? Any info on tactics, bait, time of year would be great.
Thank you

You can pick up crab nets at Academy. Mine are about 20" in diameter. Chicken necks work for me. They need to be 5" tip to tip of the Carapace.

They start showing up when water temperatures rise above 60 degrees.

Look for them under bridges.

Water temps only got below 60 for a handful of days this winter. The commercial guys were out throughout the winter and only pulled their traps during the cleanup. They are all back out already. Definatlely above 60 degrees right now.
