Has anyone been on one of the party boats out of Port A on one of the 48 or 60 hour trips? Is it worth the money? Which boat would you recommend?

I've been on a couple of 48's out of Deep Sea Headquarters on the Pelican with John Brennan and they were quite successful. In fact, I'm scheduled to go again a week from today weather permitting. I recommend them.

I fish with Dolphin Docks occasionally too and they do a good job also.

Are they worth the money? It depends on what you get out of fishing They are to me.

Do you have your own tackle suitable for this type of fishing? If so, I'd say go for it.

Good luck.

Omaka here,

Yeah, the party boats are worth the money. Deep Sea Headquarters and Dolphin Docks are your best bet. At the Dolphin Docks, be sure to get on the Dolphin boat piloted by Captain Dean. He will take you where the fishes are lurking. He is also very customer friendly. Very Happy

In fact, Captain Dean has a 48 hour trip schedule to go out on Dec. 15. You might want to consider going out on it. I plan on going....its my early Christmas gift to myself. Laughing

I've gone out on many party boat trips (long hours) and the majority have been great trips with many fish caught. But keep in mind, very strong current and bad weather are two things that will ruin a fishing trip.
The boat docks will not necessarily cancel a trip because of bad weather or strong winds. You may want to cancel the trip and you can, but you won't get a refund if you already paid for a reservation. I've been burned several times going out in rough miserable seas where I caught one fish, and others times, nothing. What I do now is watch the offshore forecast and hope there's still space on a trip I'm interested in. I don't make reservations and pay in advance anymore......I've wasted/lost too much money. Crying or Very sad

I agree with omaka that DD is a great way to go especially the Dolphin. Excellent skipper who knows where the fish are and will get right down there and get dirty with everyone else. Looking forward to another winter trip myself.
