Do any of y'all fish for whites around Austin? A couple buddies and I checked out Circleville which is east of Georgetown for the past 2 weekends. The first week it was cold but we did manage 1 keeper and a few smaller ones. The next week was right after these rains and it caused the San Gabriel to swell to unfishable amounts. We do not have a boat but we would love any tips on where you can catch em' near here. We have the waders and minnow nets and all the other items needed, just need a place to go!
Thank you for your help,
Zack! |

This is a post off the lagunamadreflyfishers site.
Adam and I ran to Hwy 59(Nueces river) and got into a mess of whites. We came home with 33 and 1 crappie that would have been a water body record. |

went to Canyon Lake yesterday - went all the way up Rebecca Creek - nada...trolled by the mouth(@ ramp 10). 1 stripper and 2 whites... must not be time yet. Although I heard some guys in a Yak were fishing the brush and did well. _________________ Happy Hook'n

What's that you say coach? I feel that Canyon Lake may be pretty busy coming up if there are white bass and strippers! JK _________________ Fish On! |

"Striper" and "stripper" have to be close to the top of the list when it comes to instances when you cannot rely on spell check. Right up there with "public" and a very slight variation of same. _________________

Spell check would not have helped if the guys in the yaks were fishing for strippers and doing well in the "brush". _________________ "I know that you believe that you understood what you think I said, but I am not sure you realize what you heard is not what I mean." |

I've done pretty good in Circleville over the years about this time. With the help of waders, flyfishing using a chartreuse/white beadhead Clouser or Crazy Charlie.
Caught them wading in the county park west of Austin on the Pedernales, too.
Canyon you'll need a boat or yak.
One other option close to you would be the Llano at LBJ, although I'm not sure what the flows are like.
Somerville is another option, too. It just caught a bunch of runoff and it looks like the whites will be able to make it up Yegua Creek after all. |

| I've been fly fishing the San Gabe for the last few weeks and have done pretty good. This week should be really good as long as we don't get too much rain today and tomorrow. I'm gonna be out there Friday. |

I went to circlevillle yesterday caught 15 keepers saw lots of full limits most fish were caught early I got there at 2 but still caught a nice stronger free lined minnows and a small white crappie jig under a slip cork was the ticket _________________ Fish fear me!!! |
