[url]lots of big drum being caught tonite. The wind is low so makes it tolerable. On average 35-40" and a run every 10-20 minnutes. Majority of fish being caught on fish bites and sea lice. Lots of people so tangles and crowded to be expected.

That's why I don't like fishing piers.

Yup, crowds and tangles are the main course at piers.

That's why it's nice to set up the yak just out of their range so I don't have to worry about tangles. But at least they are catching some nice ones.

Never understood why someone would stand shoulder to shoulder to catch a fish that feels like you're reeling in a 4x8 sheet of plywood.

You don't want to eat a big ugly or a bull red. According to TPWD both those big boys have 50X more mercury in them that is safe for human consumption. They don't care about the worms. Problem is you can't get rid of mercury, worms are just more protien.

That's funny because something like that actually happened to my dad when he was younger. He was fishing offshore with my Grandpa when they hooked something monster.
Hours later, it ended up being a monster...plastic bag, lol. Dad said it was close to the size that would fit a mattress or something.

I don't know if it is just a rumor, but I remember seeing something about a shooting near there.

Wish people would learn how to throw a line STRAIGHT on a pier and not at a freaking 45* angle. What color fish bits are people using and whos got sea lice? I need to break in my new 5600 C4. Smile

I noticed most people were using either hot pink or the neon green. I have not used them very much and actually wasted money on live shrimp when i was there. the sea lice and fish bites were the attraction. ive only ever caught the big drum on a 1/2 crab.

I remember my father caught a Molson in Lake Champlain (Vermont) with a worm hook. He also drank it shortly thereafter.
