Working on my latest project for the last 2 days. A table for my upper deck made out of a slab of pecan. I wasn't sure how to proceed on the next step so what better way to clear your head but to go fishing.

Took my camera with me, which in itself is mind clearing. However, I didn't check the batteries and they were all dead. So much for pics.

Went to Pita about 12:30 and on the first drift pick up 2 keeper trout and 2 dinks in the flats. The drift took me to deeper water and I hook into something. I thought I had probably foul hooked another trout. I've been doing that a lot lately. NOPE! It's a drum. When it sees the boats it decides to haul buns under the boat. I jump down off the deck, step around and over my dog who's laying there watching me. I figured that's the end of that rod. But luckily I'm able to get my pole low enough in the water long enough for me to get around the back of the boat and clear of the motor. Winds are blowing 20-30 and I have out only 1 drift sock. Between my fast drift, and the drum running away from the boat, I'm losing line quick. I also was using my lightest action rod at the time as well. Well after about a 15-20 min. fight I get it into the boat. This was no big ugly. It was big (39") and pretty. It was a deep bronze color instead of that drab gray. Tried to take pics. That's when I realized all 6 batteries I had were not charged.

Came home about 3 and, although I didn't keep count, I know I had at least 2 limits of keeper trout, aw well as a bunch of dinks. I also caught 2 flounder that went 19". I released all to my dog's chagrin.

Mind is now clear and I can now proceed with project. That is of course the fishing gods call me back out to the water tomorrow.

awesome! thanks for the report Tom, going to head out tomorrow to try and get one of those uglies (or, not so uglies) on light tackle.

The plus part of being on a kayak is that the big boys can just pull you around instead of ripping out drag while you watch helplessly:D , the downer is that its tough play around out on the 20-30 mph days Rolling Eyes
