I am looking for any advice on meat grinders.
I know I want electric for sure.
I process approximately 100 pounds of deer meat a year.
I am at your mercy for learning so throw it out there.
Thank you. |

I bought mine (1 hp) on sale from Cabela's last year.It was expensive but I figure it has already paid for itself. My friends brought a Nalgai and were very impressed. Took less than 10 minutes to grind a full bustub approximately 50lbs. _________________ Life is Good |

| I use a grinder and stuffer from Northern Tools of all places. Does a great job for the price, both around $100 each I think. I'm sure some of the more expensive ones may be a little better but this set up does me fine. I have made a BUNCH of sausage and burger with it!!! Good luck! |

I have the Northern Tools #12 I bought for 99 dollars on sale and it works well though I had to buy an aftermarket plate to get it to do sausage without grinding it again.

I saw someone use a kitchen aid stand mixer once to grind meat. I don't know if that comes standard or not, but I thought that was a good move. Figured if I ever needed one I'd go that route and get the mixer with it. They are expensive though. _________________ Do you even fish, Bro? |

My son in law and I did a bit of research on this subject late last year and ended up with an LEM #5 grinder. We bought it at an Academy in S.A. on the way home from Fredericksburg. It had all we needed to get started making hamburger, chili meat and sausage. Most folks recomended getting the foot pedal switch for it also. If you are working alone it would come in very handy, but so far we have had plenty of button pushers standing by. Moody's meat has all the spices and casings if you don't already have that figured out. _________________ Live like you're dying |

| Also, you might check out the commercal kitchen suppliers. Sometimes theyhave a smaller unit that will do everything you want, but doesn't have the Cabella's name on it so the cost is less. |
