so im gonna go down pins saturday to see if i can round up some whiting ... dont plan on keeping any but if any one wants to join me ill meet up with them somwere near bobhall or something idk just let me know if your interested ill be up for a while tonight (got a paper to write) but then im going to sleep then waking bright an early to go slay fish

I let them go and eat them depending upon the situation. My dad and mom are elderly and a couple of whiting make a nice lunch for them.

They have saved many a camping trip down the beach too! Check out the recipe section and look under fish stew. Whiting go really well in there.

Never heard of catching whiting just for the fun of it. Why not run a couple out as baits. Might catch something a bit more fun.

) I smoked/made jerky of the day's catch of whiting while camping on PINS. Had a low fire, so didn't burn it. We were hungry, so we ate it even though my wife complained bitterly Very Happy

and it was quite tasty!!! According to myself and the kiddos.

i woiuld run some out as baits but i have no way of getting them out there on my bigger reels i only have gear sutied for bobhall or boat so im using seven foot rod to cast out off the shore but i mean i dont think a five foot rod will cast very far especially without any give in it ... and no i dont have a kayak

of course if someone wants to go with me ill givem the fish and maybe if they have a kayak or good sized rod to get the whiting off the shore and into deeper water then something might happen, on a side note since its whiting rleated , i was out at oso bridge by the campus fishing around 520 to 700 and caught a few whiting and a decent sand trout, gave em away but they were fun to catch

as far as the hard head poll goes i used to kill every one i caught when i was a kid,
but don't underestimate their use as bait....call me crazy, but
I met a guy from Panama on bob hall he bet me 20 bucks he could catch a shark on the fat hard head he just caught. i bet him. he cut the head off behind the spikey fins. threw the head away the put the rest out on a float... hour later he had a 7 1/2 foot bullshark i paid the man.
i have seen cobia(ling for you texans Smile

) on the rigs eat live hard heads like candy too

predetors of hardhead as i have read are usually ray find fish like kings and other off shore fish i could see ashark taken a bite tho and had a friend use a baby hardhead as abait one time and he got a huuge rip on the rod but i guess it was cause we didnt remove the spines but we brought it back in and the fish was rehooded differently then how we hooked it Shocked

like i said tho the water is freezing so if i new which bar, sorry gut, to cast to i can get in get out as fast as possible

anyways the primary point of this post was to see if anyone else would be fishing pins this weekend and to see if they wanted to meet up and fish together

ive heard of hardhead being used as bait to me there a pain in more ways then one but maybe this year insted of throwing them back in ill prep one for bait
