| Just get her the Z-71 and then swap vehicles when you go to the beach. Problem solved, 2 birds with one stone. |

| Those Ford inline 6s will go forever. Ford really goofed that one up for sure. You will enjoy the Bronco, I had one for over eight years back in the day when I run the beach hard. Tightlines...............cC |

| I like my 94 z71. Easy to work on and runs like a beast. My first 4x4 fishing truck and I love it. Its also my daily driver but I don't go very far to work and back. Its exactly what I wanted. More room to store stuff and haul stuff especially for camping trips down the beach. |

My last truck had the IL six 4.9 L fuel injected. Real torquey motor (more than most v8s) Will last you a long time. That truck rusted out before engine was even near its end. Ford made a huge mistake discontinuing that line of engines. Some of the best ever built. Only thing It needed in over 200k miles was a clutch, waterpump and a starter. Not bad. Easy to work on to. MISS THAT ENGINE. _________________ -STAY THIRSTY MY FRIENDS!- |

Here's my new to me fishing wagon / daily driver. Diesel prices are getting really pricey so I bought this little '83 shortbed Chevrolet. It had a banged up fender & front bumper, so I pulled the core support & whole front clip & put on a '88 front clip off my old dually. You will love the Ford inline 6. Won't win any races but very, very dependable & have tons of torque. _________________ I'm Gona land the big one, one day |

| 25 Year old beach truck is a gamble. I hope this comes in time to convince you to change your mind. I understand straddled to a new truck payment, you are looking to buy used. I suggest '02 or better. That's when US truck makers realized they needed to build better trucks to compete with Toyota and started using CAD programs to design. But if you are stuck on the Bronco, the clutch is the weakest point. The larger heavy duty clutch will bolt right on to the existing flywheel. The motor, transmission, transfer case, and front trans axle will probably not ever need rebuilding. Just keep them full of fluids. You will need to save your money for starters, clutches, u joints, radiators, motor mounts, master cylinders, booster, shoes, drums, alternator, power searing pump, etc etc etc. The 300 6 cylinder was the best ford motor. They discontinued it because of fuel consumption regulations. If the transmission is the 4 speed w/ OD, it's made by Mitsubishi and uses automatic transmission fluid. Good transmission but the throw out bearing is a piece of do do. It's made of plastic and only lasts 40 - 50 thousand miles. I would keep a starter, u-joints, and a water pump on board along with a tow strap. You can rig around a heater core leak, or jump a bad starter solenoid. First, I recommend a new over sized clutch, all new belts, hoses plug wires, cap. and rotor. You should spring for the double wide radiator. It's around 3 times as much but it will come in handy plowing through the 20's during the summer. I hate to te te on your parade but if none of your friends will tell it like it is, I hope this helps. L |
