More enjoyable than hunting myself is watching my son learning the ropes.

That's one hell of a duck lease! Does that boat have one of those mud motors (like a Go Devil)? I have been contemplating buying one, but need some good feedback on that type of rig. I talked to guy hunting the Bluff area and he mentioned getting a four blade prop and to stay away from the three blade? Any advice would be appreciated. _________________ CARPE DIEM |

We run a 16-ft Gator Trax boat with a 45hp MudBuddy surface drive (aka short tail) mud motor. Was the best thing we did for our duck hunting. We can get to places that used to be off limits due to vegetation.....and not to mention no more cleaning sawgrass from around the prop of our outboards. Ours had dual exhaust when we bought it last year, but was too loud so we replaced them with a quieter BPS system. A little less hp, but barely noticeable. You can get them with reverse now too, but it really isn't necessary since you can turn the motor 90-degrees to the transom and spin the boat on a dime. Downside, you do not want to drive them in areas were uprooting seagrass is frowned upon.....they are not vegetation friendly.

Artificial,
Thanks for the reply, it's appreciated. I hunted the Pecos River for 20 years without the need for a boat and it was some of the best duck hunting in the state, with virtually no competition. Now I have to find ways to escape the masses to enjoy my sport and that style of boat could help. Good hunting and consider yourself lucky to have your boy to share the experience with. _________________ CARPE DIEM |

| Great pics and looks like that young man gets around - Macks Logo waders. I remember when they were still in the back of the hardware store down on east main. |
