Would it even be worth me driving 100 miles to try fishing down the island? Havent been to the island in a couple of weeks and the last time I was down about mile 25 the redtide was unbearable. That was two weeks ago. A couple of friends and myself plan on fishing the beach all the way to the Mansfield Jetties and hopefully camp out tm night there. Anyone been down lately or have any suggestions? Thanks for any and all help. If you happen to see a 4 door off white truck dodge pickup down there, stop in and have a cold one.

I wouldn't check the wave forecast and the PINS report.

Where can I check the wave forecast? Man this is the only window all of us are off and in town until after the new year... Would it be safe to fish the channel in the Mansfield Cut? Really want to go and just have a good time. Fish or not, but dont want to be killed by the redtide

I would suggest fishing port aransas jetties. Red tide has been reported bad last couple of reports just recently. Better chances on big sow trout and reds if your wanting to catch fish n not die from red tide.
