hello everyone, well my son just had his final test with the navy seals . and passed. he will soon be going off to boot camp at great lakes mich.(cold up there) after bootcamp he will be going to calif. to take the seal challenge. aka b.u.d.s he has worked and trained very hard just to get this oppurtunity. his final test consisted of a 500 yrd swim (9min) push-ups (97)
sit-ups(94) pull-ups (14) and a mile and a half run (10 min) consecutive with no breaks.just thinking about it makes me hurt. i will miss him greatly when he goes to serve his country, and he knows it.hes been great help around the house. his goal is is to become a navy frogman/seal.it will give me something to think about when im fishing besides all the honey dos that i havent done....yall have a great day.thats and order!

Congratulations to you and your son -- that is one hell of an achievement and one he should be proud of. I graduated from the US Army Ranger Course in the 90's and remember the pride I felt (and still do) at pinning on the "Black and Gold." Be sure to thank your boy for his service to our country and best wishes during his future training -- hope he gets his "Budweiser"

BUDS will be his most significant challange. My brother Augi Flak (0-5) was a Navy Seal and leader of Seal Team 4. CWO Roger Hayden is a buddy still out with the teams in Coranado. Cal. where BUDS is held. That water is cold!. Hope you son makes it though BUDS and on to a fine carrier.

You can be proud. Sounds like a good young man with ambition. I sincerely appreciate all of our Armed Service people and their courage. I'll pray for his safety and success. Looks like you did a pretty fair job of being a DAD.

Congrats proud Dad!!!

I understand your pride. My youngest daughter is in the AirForce Security Forces, the Blue Berets. She is set to ship out to Kuwait in Feb. She called me from Tampa Bay yesterday very homesick and tearful. Her comment to me was this ....

Dad. I miss home so much! I want to come home for the holidays and be with my family but I know I have a job to do and my job is what allows everyone else to freely travel to see their famlies. I feel so torn. Sad and homesick and yet proud and ready.

I told her that was very normal and being homesick was OK. I also told her that her job was very important and it wouldn't be long before she would be home. Go do your job, be proud, and be homesick cuz home is worth fighting for.

I hope it helped her....

If she's anything like I was when I was a little younger it will. That almost quoted what my dad told me before I went off for my first "cruise" in the Navy. That cruise started May of 2001 and ended in Nov 2001, which means I was in the Persian Gulf on 9/11. I kept remembering what my dad told me before I left and it helped me keep things in perspective.

on the other note, CONGRATS FOR YOU AND YOUR SON. I am no seal, just an avionics technician but the Navy has been really good to me.

Congrats to you and your son! Qualifying for SEALS training is tough an accomplishment to be extremely proud of!

If you son ever has any questions about his finances, tell him to call me. I'm with USAA.
