Doesn't really belong here but,,,

Spent last week up in New Orleans and had a blast! Didn't do any fishing and couldn't get tickets to the game but we ate tons of sea food and did lots of cool things! I have to say the people of NOLA were gracious and their hospitality rivals next to none! So, with this in mind I challenge every local here to be hospitable to as many tourists as you can by giving a simple hello or opening a door for somebody at your local bait shop, this goes a long way and shows how great we can be too, being courteous like this makes people feel welcome and that's certainly the way we felt while visiting the Saint City!

Started of the Vaca by taking a Swamp Tour, the location crossed the ICW and my wife Diana didn't believe that it was the same body of water we cross here on the JFK, it was very surprising to her! We went to the Tour site and got on a very fast airboat our captain's name was Monkey and he had a accent that was down right Cajun, too Cajun for us to tell what the heck he was saying without asking twice or saying Huh? LOL! He was a wealth of knowledge and had been living near the Swamp since he was a kid! The Boat had what looked like to me a LT Engine and was packing some H.P., very dry ride and smooth too! We did see a couple of anglers in the swamp that was private and when the guide noticed it was the father of the land owner(22,000+acres) he quickly ceased his investigation as to who was fishing there and said "The Ole Man can do what ever he wants!" LOL..... We saw lots of Gators, weasels, turtles, tree's and birds, this to me was worth the Fee and the tip I gave Monkey for the experience of the tour! You must take a swamp tour if you visit N.O.

We got to see the Mighty Miss up close and personal, this river is so wide it dwarfs the oil tankers that sail it. The river has a natural depth of 240 feet in the channel, WOW! We took a real steam boat cruise and I was amazed on the torque and response the boat had with it's 5 million dollar steam engines and it's massive paddle wheel, another must do if you visit NOLA!

The best for last, we took a cooking class and learned to make bread pudding, seafood Gumbo and Etouffee with Crawfish, Crab and Shrimp, Your probably saying I make these all the time, I have to say No you haven't, unless your a chef from Louisiana or had the recipe passed down from grandma you haven't tasted this stuff! Some of these recipes might show up on the cooking posts here on C.F..Com very soon!

Again, had a blast but I'm glad to be home and catch up with all the posts and envy them retired guys, I'll be there soon as I only got 16 yrs till I get my 20 in with the state!

I'm heading to NOLA myself, early this Thursday morning. I built some racing sails for a Peterson 34 and will be delivering them and racing with the client and old friend, and maybe the best part of all is that after the races on Friday, Saturday and Sunday there will parties with Cajun chow and adult beverages galore!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

SUUUWWWWWEEEEEEETT!!!!!! Shocked Cool Wink
