Ok so for about a moth now i have been planning to go fishing 10/15 down there in corpus. I would like to go just set up a canopy and spend my day in one spot fishing. SD has had some great reports on packery channel but i've also seen some good things about south of bob hall pier.

So just wanting to know some pros and cons of the two, as far as usual driving conditions, crowds, catches, etc.

If they are dredging duing the run then the fish will have to wait for night-time to go out. I think the sound of the machinery will hold them back during the day. Sounds like I need to put the kayaks into Packery flats. That will probably be their hiding spot till dark.

Same story different day........................ as always, CC is a tourist town and the reds running surely brings in needed funds for the local economy. Soooooo, why don't those in charge consider things like this before making such idiotic decisions? Rolling Eyes Embarassed

OCT 12 i Fish both places and it all the depends on the wearther,By then the mullet migration should be in full force with some cool fronts pushing the finger mullet out the bays. If theres a cool front approaching the winds pick up and so does the surf. Packery is calmer being protected
from the strong southeast winds, But there's always a lot of people fishing that area espeacialy the week ends.South of bob hall you can find a secluded spot in 8 miles of beach. So putting the weather factor in,That should make your mind up for you. Cool

geez louise.....

exactly WHO do you think made such an "idiotic decision"?

many of you are missing the forest for the trees here people.

and BTW, this is the SECOND time they've dredged packery; Jessica got it WRONG.

y'all try to keep your eye on the ball. think big picture here folks, i.e. if the pass wasn't there, there wouldn't be a dang redfish run in the first place!

chicken and the egg, and y'all are choosing the egg. I'll take the chicken EVERY time folks.

CC is not a tourist town. It has the potential to be a toursit town, but as of now it is not. CC is a petrochemical refining and shipping town.

They have to dredge in the fall and winter due to the turtles.

I have made the point many times in tha past that CC is BOTH a petrochemical and tourist town, you're not telling me or anyone else anything new, I was speaking towards the tourist part. The fact remains that those in charge seem to go out of their way to discourage the latter. If you honestly believe that CC is only the former, shut down the motels/hotels/condos, car rental agencies and such and then see how fast the sporting goods stores, bait shops, piers, restaurants, Stripes stores and other quick stops, offshore/inshore and bay/LM trips/guides, garages, Academy, Walmart, K Mart, airport and too many other places of business to name start crying to open them back up!!!!!!!

On the dredging: It's plain old common sense that a man made pass must be kept open by the same means, only the timing is in question on my part.

Both are simple concepts I believe.
