Todd Neahr just sent me this:

Gentlemen,

Alex came by again today and wanted to see if you all would be able to encourage folks to report any sightings of fish or aerosol effects to him. They are mobilizing to collect water samples and conduct fish transects if organisms start appearing. The high water will limit efforts today.

Please pass this info on to Alex.

If you see dead or dying fish and wildlife, call the regional Kills and Spills biologist, Alex Nunez. For your safety, please do not touch, collect, or eat dead or dying fish or wildlife.

Alex Nunez

don't forget to post your report up here fishinglady.

no one's going to fish your secret spot if everything's dead. let us know where you were at, what was dead, in what numbers, and how the aerosol was effecting you/those around you.

let's please use this as "the" red tide thread for the time being, as 15 reports from different people is silly. makes it hard to search for this later and keep coherent reports.

please note species of fish that have been killed, and relative numbers (XX fish per about XX feet of shoreline, etc). pictures are great too, I know everyone has smart phones with cameras nowadays.

I'm fixing to get a shovel and go fill in Packery, you want me to take some pictures?

Just got back from Bob Hall pier. Water had been over the the road. Red tide was visable in the surf. Saw a few dead fish, and the aerosal was present.

A friend called this morning after he went to check out the surf at South Packery this morning. He said he saw quite a few dead mullet. Latest report was several dead redfish now... Evil or Very Mad

I don't quite know how to respond to this obviously personal attack. I'm kinda shocked and puzzled.

wasn't trying to evoke an angry response from anyone. was just trying to help coordinate reports on this board, as personally requested this morning by several of my buddies who work for TPWD and are studying this. look at the reports coming in. there's like 5 different threads at this time with varying degrees of information, some helpful, some not at all.

nevermind. excuse me for trying to help out. I'm out and off.

BTW, thanks fishinglady, Jellyfish, ROBDOG, and rabbit for the reports so far.

Come on that wasn't a personal attack...it was a joke on me trying to fill in the Packery with a shovel, so the redtide won't kill the fish in the Laguna.
You've got to be kidding me. I make a joke on myself and you think it's a personal attack...give me a break, Jay.

Depends on how far out in the Gulf the bloom extends.

Sounds like a good bet.

6:30 PM 10/10/11 at White Cap: Coughing, itchy throat etc. I didn't notice any red tint to anything - water, foam, etc... I have seen it like that before, but didn't see it this time. Mostly pony/horse mullet every 10 yards or so with the occasional hardhead thrown in. Everything looked like it had been dead for a while. Saw a guy taking a water sample.

Fished packery near the new boat ramp tonight with the lady, we were both coughing. A little down the shoreline I found a 43" drum washed up
