I was wondering, does the Base Exchange have a good selection of fishing and boating gear?
I'm looking for a new kicker motor and tax free sounds pretty good when I see the price tags these days.
I've given up on the Army PX system, the selection is just this side of non-existent for gear, heck WalMart is better stocked.
The Ft Hood PX does have a pretty good gun shop though. |

You might want to try calling FT Sam Houston, Lackland AFB, and Randolph AFB. NAS CC does not much of fishing selection. However, if it's on NEX cataolog you can ask to order for you. _________________ "Our houses are protected by the good Lord and a gun And you might meet'em both if you show up here not welcome son" -Josh Thompson |

What they have at NAS CC is overpriced. Academy is probably your best bet. _________________

Fort Sam has SOME fishing gear in their outdoors shop, however the person making the stocking choices probably has never fished a day in their lives. some of what they carry is amazing. They have approx 1/8th of all the space devoted to things like dehookers. They probably have a choice of 4-5 different kinds - why??? The books they carry on fishing (why they carry any is beyond me) are simpleton books that apply more to the east coast than the gulf. But they have an excellent selection of cutters for cutting fishing line. Their prices for Fluoro fishing leader material is higher than Ebay - much higher.
NAS Corpus' fishing section is worse. They have MAYBE a 6 foot section of one side of an aisle for fishing stuff and the stuff they have is garbage. Their selection of sunscreen is larger than their selection of fishing equip. |

The great thing about shopping at the BX/NEX/PX is that you can price match anything with downtown and tax free as well. and just ask to see if they can order what you are looking for and get it at the downtown price. _________________ "Our houses are protected by the good Lord and a gun And you might meet'em both if you show up here not welcome son" -Josh Thompson |

Why can't you order through the exchange? If its just a kicker go to academy like the man said. _________________ I LIKE MINE FRIED. |
