Hello everyone!

I'm being presented with getting a 224 Mako ( 1981 ). She's about a 22-23' boat. My question is would this be a good beginner's boat?

I'm interested in fishing the bay around SPI or Port Mansfield. How deep would u be comfortable in running it? Also, anyone with any more info on this boat, please chime in with your experiences.

Thanks.

http://www.mako-boats.com/past-model-specs/view-specs.cfm?modelyear=1981

That link shows the boat you speak of to have an 18inch draft... To my understanding that is just the hull.... The lower unit will likely stick out another 20 inches or so...

It is a GREAT boat for offshore. In my opinion it is not an ideal boat for around here fishing inshore. If the price is right.... Just stay in the channels. I would want something more forgiving on the draft as a beginner around here. But if you want more offshore type activity then get that boat...
