I want to pick up some shrimp on the way down to PINS in case we come up short on the finger mullet.

Are there any convenient places to grab a pound or 2 of dead shrimp off 358/SPID as we approach the PINS entrance? Would be nice to find a place that stays open into the evening hours, maybe 7pm or so. I've heard of Roy's Bait & Tackle, but they close at 5pm.

Do the HEB's in this area sell bait like this? C-stores?

Thanks!

locations if you need them are: cosway(sponsor) & red dot are the first exit on the causway coming east, at the east end of the jfk bridge, exit and marker 37 is to the south, clem's & billings are to the north. cosway is easy off & on, marker 37 & clems almost as easy. HEB is to the south of causway when you take the WALDRON road exit.

Everyone has there favorite bait place. Opinions vary greatly. With that said, the only place I buy dead shrimp is Clems. Normally I would just buy it live on my way to fish for Pompano. However, with as consistant as they are with having very fresh dead shrimp, I would say go to Clems. I don't think I've ever been disapointed with their bait.

Do they stay open late? I've tried there before and seem to remember they close pretty early. Maybe I'm crazy but seem to rem they didn't have the late hours like some other places. Maybe it was they didn't open really early. Dunno.

I've had decent luck with Cos-Way and Clem's, but like someone said, everyone has their preference. I lean more towards Clem's because they let me use their cleaning tables when I come back off PINS(and I'm not to tired) and they hardly ever charge me the $1.
