| yesterdqy we made a n ice trip to bob hall pier. saw that the winds were supposed to be in a reasonable range so took a chance. it was prefect. winds were almost non-existent. it was warm and just enough of a breeze to help fan you. could even put up the umbrella. i started the morning by catching 2 big whiting. one of them was the bigest i have ever caught. the people next to us were there the day before and even with the wind up they said they had limited out on keeper reds, they also said that someone had caught a big nurse shark the day before and released it. they started catching reds again. i hooked into a speckled trout that came in at 21 inches. we were all shocked as i was using dead bait on the bottom. then about 11 am i caught a 20 inch black drum so we had a good morning. then it got too hot for me and we left. people were catching reds the whole time were there either using gulp or dead shrimp. we couldnt find any live shrimp at 6 am so used the ded we brought with us and hubby used his lures which yielded 2 macks which were keepable but small. threw them back to grow more.i should have released the trout but it is the second longest i have ever caught so we took it him home but next time will release.hoping to come back next wed. if possible.just glad the winds died enough to let us come visit.soon the pier in galveston will be rebuilt and open again but we still intend to keep coming back. |

| Nice report. Thanks for posting. Nothing wrong with keeping a few trout if you are going to eat them... |
