It's been about two years since my last post. I got the bug and then due to life's circumstances had to put the poles up for a while. Now my son who is 11 and I are getting some time and can't think of a better way to spend some time together than being outdoors. Anybody with any ideas and/or techniques that could get us pointed in the right direction would be much appreciated...no boat, but do have 4x4. and living in CC. Thank you in advance.

Could rent a couple of kayaks and trout fish the canals. Or if you have surf gear, the pompano reports have been good in the surf when the wind lays down.

surf and y-pass..
ypass is not bad at night and can be productive during the day, but have to either beable to cast a mile or walk out about 100 paces and bring back to shore.. good way to get away from the crowd.
good holes all along pins..
best of luck.. he will remember, freezing or not

Welcome back! Check out the sticky on this forum about the best places to fish in the area if you dont have a boat. Has a map and directions to the spots. Lots of good info and it give some basic pointers for each spot as far as fish and tactics. Then if you have specific questions dont be afraid to ask on the forum.

Any of the piers at night should be a safe bet.

The aresas without a boat and piers have been good for me. I hadnt been fishing for years because of health problems and started again this summer and my 14 y/o and 8 y/o and new wife love it. Get out and make some memories.
