Got up the other day to about 33 degrees but with the winds going to howl the next day had to hit the lake. On the way there temps went to 22 and 2"-3" of snow. Here's Kokopelli enjoying it.
Got to Heron lake and snow clounds all around but temps got up to 38.
Next few pics are of me fishing for kokanee salmon, which are landlocked coho.
This is a male. Jaw starting to hook do to the spawn.
2 males and 2 females
Total catch for the day. I had to tell Kokopelli these weren't blue fish and that he cannot have them all.
Got home and kicked back, watching the sunset from my living room.
Will post more when I'm is service area again. |

Nice report! I love trolling for Kokanee when I go home during the right part of the year! Never ate them when they have their spawning colors but when they are still silver they are hard to beat for a freshwater fish. Also Kokanee is the landlocked version of the sockeye salmon. Looks like you had a good time catching them though! _________________ V/R,

| Love those Kokanee. My dad grew up in Washington and they call them "silvers". The first significant fish I ever caught at 3 years of age was a 16 inch "silver" or Kokanee from Lake Whatcom in Bellingham. They are as Cody said, a landlocked form of sockeye. |

BTW, those fish are epic if you throw them in the smoker for a bit! _________________ V/R,
