On Saturday as I was leaving the office and walking to vehicle, I had a sharp, burning pain on top of my knee cap. I looked down expecting to see a yellowjacket or red hornet but nothing was there. I went back inside and dropped my pants to see a red welt forming. Felt like a hot burning needle and did not go away for several hours. Needless to say it swole up (Texas term for swelling) and by Sunday the whole kneecap looked like a fat blob.
I still can't see a definite bite mark and the swelling has subsided somewhat. Not sure what to think. Other than angry red, no other color or leakage (man, I hate that word).
I am not one to run to the doctor but think it might be prudent.

You guys are smarter than me so I figured I'd put it out there.

Tyler, sorry for the long off topic. Wish it would have been a north jetty report or something.

Damo

I would say yes to a trip to the Doctor. A secondary infection would be my biggest worry now..

Have you experienced any of the following?

Ability to cling to most surfaces
Superhuman strength
Web-slinging abilities
Ability to travel rapidly from place to place
Superhuman kinesthetics

But seriously, I agree you need to get to your Doc.

I've read that some spider bites can give you long term problems. If it happened at work, you should fill out a report as it may be covered under workmans comp.

LOL! Chef Lefty! Yes I agree go to the doctor. I have had a couple like that. For one thing you don't know what king of spider it was though by now if it were a brown recluse I think you would see worse problems.

Let us know what the doctor says.

If it starts looking like a big zit, go to the doctor!! (I would go anyway) I was bit by a brown recluse in 2001 on my leg. Just 24 hours after the bite I was in the emergency room. Took a month to heal. Don't mess around and get to the doctor.

I went to a doc I have never seen before and had to fill out all this weird stuff like how often do you bang smack, do you have tremors during alcohol cessation, do you feel empty inside, is the struggle of life just too much to bear, do you often spend afternoons staring at your shoes....
I thought jeez, they know why I'm here, maybe spider bites really are that bad...like Coach said, could be worse.
Doc pressed around on it and said probably not brown recluse but not good either. Definitely a spider bite. Said within a few days it would start to blow and turn into a great big infected mess, likely get into my knee, and I would would end up in the hospital on IV antibiotics and then they would start cutting on me....again, like Coach said, it could be worse.
He put me on some kind of 4 time a day exotic antibiotic and said I should be fine. I asked if he could give me shot right in my knee to get started but they were kind of sissy like and said they don't give many shots.
I'll let you guys know what the med was and check back in about week so this post can drift off the front page and be used as a cautionary tale for a future search.

Thanks for direction you guys.
Much appreciated!!!
Damo

Damo:

Welcome to the start of Obama care. That info will be put into a memory bank someplace and pulled up when ever they want to know about you. Read the bill it's in there.

But if you do start leaping from building to building send pics of that. I would also be interested in seeing a pic of you hanging upside down from a string. Wink

Hope all turn out alright.
