|
|
| Is it necessary to have a "saltwater" trolling motor, or will a fresh water motor be ok so long as it is rensed off at the and of the day. I will only bee fishing saltwater 5-6 times a year and it's alot easier to find a freshwater motor out in West Tex. |

I don't know the answer to that but can tell you that my El Cheapo OMC trolling motor held up just fine to salt water. What didn't was the foot control cable, along with my main motor steering cable!!! _________________ Dave

Stop by Snooker Ed's place and have a look at his freshwater trolling motor and what saltwater will do to them. _________________ "Ya'll must eat a lot of fish" |

There is a reason for salt water series motors. However 3-4 times a year and a good rinse you should be fine. _________________ I LIKE MINE FRIED. |

If you check out the Minn Kota website you'll find that the warranty on a freshwater model is voided if you put in the salt. Don't know about Motorguide. _________________ Capt. Tim Duncan
