Make sure you watch the video. Waimea Bay isn't a place where you get long tubular shoulders or ride deep in the pocket, it always closes out, as Kelley Salter finds out! It's all about the takeoff and the drop. These guys aren't being pulled into the wave which would allow them to get upright and out of there long before the wave turns into an out of control elevator stuck on UP!!! Making the drop and MAYBE one bottom turn IS the ride at Waimea!!! Also, the shore break is infamous for being huge, knarly and ALWAYS closing out with a 100% frequency!!!!
