make it a big red one!

Woke up at 9:30 this morning instead of 5:30 and decided to run OTB to refuel the Scout and pick up some piggies from Cos. Fished Saturday afternoon drifting the flats between Pita and Pure Oil. Started at the ICW and drifted all the way across to the 5' natural channel throwing topwaters and weedless (wanna bet) gold spoons. No takers. Headed south about 7 p.m. and anchored up in 4' of water on a grassline in a spot I normally catch trout.

Drowned two pigs after the first hour and decided to move a little further south. Threw out the first piggy and had a hit fifteen minutes later. Missed the hook set, so I reloaded and set another one out.

About 8:30 the float disappears and I set the hook on what I thought was a big trout. The fish was head shaking and pulling drag fast. About fifteen minutes later I manage to net this beauty.

26 inches and into the livewell. Fished until 9 and headed home with one in the box.

I went home, washed the boat, cleaned the dishes out of the sink and went to clean the red. Still frisky in the livewell

I swear I was about to walk into the house , but this red was really kickin, so I released it into the canal across the street where I release my croaker and piggies. She swam off and and will probably break some Zebco 202 lines later this week, unless Luke catches her. Very Happy

I'll be out with my remaining 44 piggies tomorrow.

As good a story as I've read here. And I've read some good ones.
Thanks.

I'm trying to restore the big croaker run!

The piggies keep the trout under the docks fat.
