I just saw the post about soft shell crab and it made me think I should share this with you guys. I am in no way affiliated with this but it's a great deal.
If you want a great deal go to restaurants.com. Enter in the zip 78418. Scuttlebutt's will be the first coupon that comes up. There are quite a few local restaraunts that are listed. I ordered 3 $25 coupons for $6 to use at Scuttlebutt's. You can immediately print out the coupon to use. You can only use one at a time and they are worth $25 and cost you $2 a piece when you use the correct promo code. You have to make a minimum purchase of $35 and they will include a 18% tip when you use it. The promo code to use is PLATE when you checkout and it will give you the extra discount. Good till 07/31. I called BS when my wife told me about these but we use them all the time. She heard about the website on one of her daytime talk shows. |

Buyer beware. I got an email advertising them and checked into them first and came across this. Hundreds of complaints of fraud about this company.
http://www.complaintsboard.com/bycompany/restaurantcom-a12358.html
Some examples:
"I am writing about restaurant.com and the scam they are doing to custmers who purchase gift certicates on their site. It is unethical, and they are doing it for ecomomic gain without your consent.
When you purchase a gift certificate, you are unwillingly letting them sign you up for a company called Shopping Essentials which bills your credit card for $14.95 per month."
"Scam! Scam! Scam! I got a gift card to Restaurant.com with a purchase from Abe's of Maine. With the card, I purchased 3 discount coupons for 3 different restaurants. The first time I tried to use one, I was informed that they didn't deal with the company any more"
And all the complaints from restruant owners too.
"I am a restaurant owner who has dealt with Restaurant.com and I am still dealing with the mess of restaurant.com. He is correct. They are a sham. Unfortunately I signed a one year contract with them without reading the entire over written mess. It states that R.C can use my images, logos..etc for any use whatsoever as they deem fit. Which means blasting the coupons all over the internet with no responsibility of taking them down when I cancel my membership. Simply...it's a bad business practice. They don't care because people still purchase coupons. I was the stupid one for signing up. It's a horrible business and you will know when you speak to anyone of their representatives."
I wouldn't deal with them. |

| I have used the coupons 6 times locally and have never had a problem. We have been using them for about 4 months and they have never billed any additional fees. |

I used paypal to checkout. That eliminates their ability to sign you up for anything and automatically charge you.
I have a friend of mine who owns a restaurant in Austin, and they are on the list. He says they are legit.
Even if only 1 coupon works, then it was well worth the $8 I paid for 4 coupons. If all 4 coupons work, I'll consider buying them at the regular $10 price. Good marketing I guess.
BTW: Its RESTAURANT.COM, not restaurantS.com..... I think the website says restaurants in the original post, should be restaurant (no plural).
I tried it at first and realized that was the wrong site, so I guessed to take off the S. _________________ -Dave
