First post, been around for yrs. Spent last 8 days in SPI. Fri fished jetties
from 7a-830a, water gin clear. Caught 5 bonito within 50 yds of shore. Fish were 7-10 lbs, all caught on gold spoons, 12lb test, 10-15 minutes per fight. Noon went north to fish surf. 1 jack hooked ... 1 jack losted. Spooled. Rerigged, caught 1 bonito standing in 3 ft water, 12 lb test again & 15 min later, beached. Got picture of the one on beach, will post pict later. Awesome Fri. never caught bonito that close in. Way too much fun. Pray for our Gulf....FISSH |

was the weed bad down south? I just got back from matagorda the sharks were there. I had sharks on 7 different times and lost all of them. I got 3 of the almost to the beach. One straighten the hook he was about 6 foot long. The others I guess the shells cut the lines. I must of had 20 pick up the baits and run about 20 foot and drop the bait. Caught a few gaptops and two reds both oversize. The first 5 miles of the beach had lots of old seaweed in the water. I was down at the 11.5 miles and pulled 2 pieces of weed off line. I want to go to spi if the weed is not bad. One more week of vacation.
thanks ken |

| Weed was thick but fishable , stationary surf rods almost impossible. Weed held lots of bait fish which probability the bonito followed in. |
