Porky is blowing town this weekend, tarpon fishing in st. petes friday afternoon, snookin saturday, then some backwater fun south of tampa during the weekend. then blowing down to tavernier for some bonefish, then on to key west for diving and trolling for 5 days or so.

although I'm going to miss some flat seas around here, y'all gear up and get out there and troll those weedlines!

no fishing the rigs! go troll!

May be a dumb question, but is there a site that forecasts winds on a 7 or 10 day basis?

In my experience, 10 days out, your best bet is:

Well, this was working earlier today and showed a nice window from Thurs through Sun/Monday.

But now it appears to be FUBAR'd. Check back though, its always worked before for me....

Of course, it probably doesn't mean much until you check on thursday and it says the same thing. Then I'll start working on a crew and bait Smile

I have some friends that have been down on Captiva for the past 7 days. They have jumped multiple tarpon each day on the P.I. Sound side. They have caught some snook around the connors condo docks on the Ft Myers side too. They said the snook have been caught right at sunset - green flash time. Have fun sounds like a great vacation

It should be a great weekend since I am on call. I can generally predict good surf fishing weather up to 8 weeks out. I am on call every 8 weeks. This weekend should be real nice and it will be real nice 8 weeks later. Shocked

I hope someone can help a brother out here.

There is a group of guys from my church that were talking about making a long weekend trip down PINS (all the way to the end down close to the Port Mansfield cut), but we are undecided due to the weather reports we've been hearing on other places.

Our "plan" is to camp on the beach and fish the surf and/or jetty.

For example, http://forecast.weather.gov/shmrn.php?mz=gmz132&syn=gmz100 says that the winds will be blowing 10-15 knots w/ moderate chop in the bay.

To me, this doesn't sound like very good conditions for fishing the surf. But I will freely admit to being not terribly experienced at fishing the surf (maybe 6-8 times), and never anywhere along PINS.

Oh and yes, I read the sticky about driving down PINS. Good stuff!

If you're going this weekend, the conditions are as good as they've been in a while. Don't forget about Mustang Island this part of the year. May and June can produce some really good fish off the beaches, if the wind is down.
