We went out packery yesterday because it was going to be a nice day. When we got out there it was a different store. The wind was up and so was the chop, along with the big swells. The weather calmed down later in the day, and it turned out to be really nice. Dispite the weather the fishing was pretty good. We ended up with 7-8 kings, 4 ling, jack, and bonita. Most of the kings were caught along to grass lines that were just offshore. The lings however, were all caught around the first set of rigs/platforms, we only saw 1 along the grass. Everything was caught on lures. Kings on russel lures and large rapalas, everything else was caught on gold spoons. I have some pictures but I can't figure out how to put them on there. Any suggestions. Good luck on your next trip.

Bad day of fishing is better than a good day at work!!

How big were the kings and the Codia? Just curious. I havent bothered to do much trolling, thinking the water temp was too low.

The kings were about 30 - 40 inches and the ling were just under 37 which is the min length.

I'll post photos if any fish! It is calling for 2-3 or 3-5 that is nothing!!!!!! I wont go out past 8 miles in those seas... Just cruise out at 11 knots or so if it is 5 feet and troll for the kings!

The grass lines were only a few miles off, maybe about 3 or so. We didn't go out past the first set of platforms.

Hey thanks for the heads up on the fish GUSJ20!!! We had a blast although we did not get any keeper cobia is was still lots of fun. I caught one small cobia and saw many small cobia along with one monster. I posted the report under 28APR10 offshore close rigs.
