|
|
After several stops without a bite I hit the backyard. Water was clear and after catching a few trout I saw a monster sized school of drum. Were not interested in any of my lures. I then see a green corking being pulled through the water. While going to investigate I find a big school of reds. I cast my tequila sand eel to the edge of it and catch, and release, a 29 1/2" red. I spotted the school again by finding the green cork. Another oversize red. This patter goes on for a while. All told I kept 3 reds, 24, 26, 27 3/4 and released another 12 up to 33". The trout, as well as, the drum were also caught on the same lure.
An awesome day!!!

Awesome report. Reminds me of a guy who told me once that his Dad would take little balloons with him in the laguna. When he'd catch a nice trout he'd run a piece of mono through it's gill and attach the balloon to the end of 3 or 4 feet line. Then he'd follow that balloon all day , figuring the trout would school up and he always knew where the school was. I've never tried it, but it sounds like good logic. _________________ I don't run 'cause it makes me tired. I don't lift weights 'cause they're heavy. -Charles Barkley |

Am I missing something, or does anyone want to talk about the big elephant in the room? _________________

Zia didn't do anything illegal but the other instance where the guy attached balloons would be illegal. |

| nothing wrong with following a cork around..now if he picked the cork up out of the water that would be an unlawful way to take that fish unless he somehow got it by rod and reel as thats the only way to take a game fish.. |

Maybe someone just couldn't tie a knot or was using rotten line and broke off. I chased a cork for 2 hrs oneday and their was a 14 in red on the end. I pulled the hook out and set him on the way. _________________ I LIKE MINE FRIED. |
