I don't know for sure what they are but the farm field out my back yard has had a flock of large white birds in it the last three mornings over here in Alice..This flock has close to 2 or 3 hundred birds in it... I'm assuming they are Canadian Geese... I guess its about a mile or so from my house to where these birds are so I was looking at them through binoculars (sp).. This is the first time I have seen birds like these in the three years I've been in this house... In past years I use to see large flocks of sandhill cranes but this year I have only seen flocks with 5 or 10 birds in them....

If they are white, they are Snow Geese.

They have been there everyday this week.. I think its a field of winter wheat thats only about 6" high right now... They start to fly out about 7:30 am and start flying back in about 5:30 or so... I got a better look at them yesterday evening and my estimate of 2 or 3 hundred may be a tad low.. They are pretty cool to watch...

You know goose season is still in until March 28th, you should get permission to go protect the farmers crops from damage and shoot some .
They eat real goodand there is no limit this time of the year.

I may check into that.. I have never shot anything thing other than doves or quail.. I'm guessing I would need another stamp for my license.. I know the farmer and I'm surprised he hasn't tried to run them off... It was calm last night with no wind and you could here them honking from my backyard at around 10 pm...

Well, I do have the super combo license and they have the mig. and upland bird endorments.. The only thing I need is permission and some non-lead shot shells.. What size and choke pattern would be good for geese from a 12 guage semi??? I'm guessing magnum loads for such large birds...
