What part of Italy? We lived in Naples for 8+ years, longest I have ever not fished There was no real organized fisheries, with the Med also known as the dead med, for good reason. There was some limited trout fishing, though it was a private affair...Maybe something in northern Italy?? Also talk of a bluefin fishery offshore< but again no readily accessible way to access.
Upside---the best food in the world IMHO |

| I'll second that on the food! I was in Naples for three years and the only fishing I got to do was for octopus by a marina next to where I was working. I didn't see much interest in fishing while I was there, either. Sorry I couldn't be more help! |

Yes, I have fished in Italy.
Was back in '65 and the family was vistiting some old friends in Rome. I was nine at the time. There was this large reflecting pool a couple of blocks from where they lived and it was full of large goldfish. I purloined a straight pin, some thread and a slice of bread and made my way down to the pool. Had managed to catch and release a couple of fat ones before some concerned citizen notified a nearby constable and my
fishing excursion was put to an end.
What can I say...I was born to fish. _________________ WORK TO LIVE, LIVE TO FISH |
