After going 0 for 8 on getting a used kayak from craigslist/this forum/others, I finally get myself a Tarpon140 yesterday. Saying I am excited about it would be a huge understatement.

NOw comes the stupid question-

I have been looking for milk crate to store my gear for weeks, and I would actually prefer to pay for one rather than take it from the back of stripes. Technically that is stealing and although its a trivial thing, I would rather not get arrested for taking a stupid crate. I have asked corner store attendents/grocery store clerks if I could have one or purchase one, and have been striking out. What the heck is the deal? Who would have thought I could find a used kayak easier than finding a used milk crate. Does anyone know where I could get one easy?

I got a spare or two (I didn't steal them, I just happen to have them in my possession..... Cool ). If you want one, just let me know.

try the stripes on SPID and Airline. Thats where i got mine and I asked them. If you strike out let me know - I will hand off my milk crate to you in a ceremony...lol Also the Ace hardware in the bluff has a 3-rod holder that fits in the crate as oppose to a 2 rod holder that you can commonly find.
You know i am thinking....I am not sure if a milk crate fits in the tarpon models? If I can recall my buddy had to get an elongated one from Target?

lots of ideas.

I bought something similar at Walmart. I think it is for files and they come in colors like yellow that match your kayak.

Thanks for the pointers, going to try that stripes. They do actually fit in the Tarpon, its got a huge storage space in the back, its the OK Drifters and such that have the narrow space. I didnt see any looking around in Roys, but I supposed I could ask them. Tyler, I saw those at stripes, but they looked a little too flimsy, werent sure if they would last, but maybe its worth it. 5moreminutes, CS, if nothing else I might take you up on the offers. I like the idea of a ceremony, kinda like a christening of the yak.

Office Depot, Office Max, Target, etc. sell storage crates of various sizes. Look in the home/office storage areas of the stores.
