I am thinking about heading down on Friday, thought I would see how the fishing was first. I have not seen many reports.

It's a long way till Friday, so really too early to tell what conditions will be but I'm staying on the beach thru the end of the week. The water is very clean right now and there was huge schools of finger mullet in the surf this morning looked to be moving south. I threw lures in and all around them ,,, spoons, TD Jrs, pop R,, but no takers.

We fished down there all weekend between the 10 and the 20. You're right about the mullet. At one point we saw a blanket of finger mullet that stretched over 10 miles! Also saw over 30 giant balls of shad in the surf. We fished in areas with lots of bait and managed only one 17" trout and some ladyfish. Talked with a guy who fished in the 30's (little to no bait around) and he cleaned up on the reds.

Friday I fished until about the 30 or so. Way to much bait fish. You could see
the bigger fish in the waves. All I wound up with was whiting and skipjack.
The water was gin clear and waves 1 to 2 . Same thing with the other people I talked to on the beach. Kinda slow.

i was out there all day saturday and we got to the 15 around 2pm and set up it took me a while to get bait but finallt i got some good sized mullet and i yaked it out on thsi side of the fourth bar and not even 20 min later i glanced over and saw my 6/0 slack up and i picked it up and peeled int he slack but nuthing reeled it in 10 min later and the mullet was clean in half.... but no hook up so we ended up hookin up wiht about a 25 inch skipjack and used him for shark bait and ran half out past the fourth and the same happened to that one also slacked up andnuthing so pretty slow....

Pretty hot and calm, but we ended up with a cooler full of stingray...
