TRASH FISHING
I had time to kill so I hit the water to have some fun and pick up some trash laft by the PB's. The tides were high today and that gave the fish alot more water to hid in. I took some trash bags out with me in my kayak, because I saw the trash the last time I was out there. On my way back in I decided to make a stop were the trash was worst. I spent about 10 minutes picking up all the beer bottles and cans, plastics bags, aluminum soda cans, plastics soda bottles, old fishing line and lot's more items.
( Trash that I know was let the PB's. ) It just P''''s me off to no end when people leave their trash as if it's going to just sprout wings and throw it's self away.
The trash on my kayak was almost like haveing someone on the back of the boat.
Befor I picked up pictures and an after I picked up videos.

I appreciate your efforts. Sounds like a kayak trash cleanup might be in order. I'm in.

Before you condemn all of us PB's, I can assure you no trash leaves my PB 'cepting when it gets back to the dock and into a trash can. Seems many people have no respect for the environment.

Amen, most powerboaters, kayakers, waders and fishermen alike show respect for the outdoors. I fish the same area and know exactly where Fil did the cleanup(thanks brother.) This particular spot is frequented by a couple small groups of powerboaters that beach their boat and bank fish. There will be just as much trash in that exact spot the next time one of the groups show up at it. It is a shame.

While I agree that it's wrong to generalize about an entire group of people based on the actions of a few, I can guarantee you that the trash wasn't left by kayakers. That particular spot is notorious for a few power boaters trashing it like mentioned earlier.

I'm not blaming the yakkers. I admire the fact that these guys will go out of their way to clean up after other's that have trashed an area. I'll admit that I have seen a "PB" throw trash in the water on rare occasions. But I've seen bank fishermen completely trash places they are fishing. I'm sure alot of that gets blown in the water and carried around on the tide all over the bays. Especially to the back bay from the dominant SE wind.

What we need is a smart young college kid that loves the outdoors to invent a device that works like a shock collar. Throw down a piece of trash and it shocks the crap out of you until you pick it up. It should be a required device to be worn at all times while fishing. If caught fishing without it, the punishment will be public beating with a 12' Ugly Stick!

Dang I'll bet that took a while to type....I'm impressed. I guess with that big 'ol list and a $1.00 you could get a cup of coffee... Hey it's great that you picked up the trash...but you know what alot of people pick up the trash on the water and off the water and they own a power boat.

I really don't think that most of the people on this board need to be reminded to pick after themselves and everyone else....

Sometimes humility is a better path... Very Happy

The best I could do on a "Pound My Chest List" is a trip to the jungle. Crying or Very sad

I appreciate the clean up effort. Maybe, just maybe, one "fisherman" that normally doesn't respect the our natural resources will take note of this thread a pick up after themselves next time out. Thanks Fisherman for setting an example.

One thing that bothers me is how we, brothers of the forum, are so quickly offended. I am not offended by Fisherman's "PB" reference. I know I cannot be counted amoung those who did or even would trash up the place. So, he is not referring to me and I am not offended. I'll take responsibility for myself and by word and action encourage others to do the same. I'll bring my trash back to the dock and pick up trash while I am on the water just be cause it is the right thing to do.

Nuff said,

MD Wink
