Got up early sunday and headed to the beach. Water was crystal clear and flat, looked like a lake shore. Driving down the beach I saw some bait getting busted so I stopped and threw out a couple lines. Thought to myself darn I didnt bring any short rods. Then I remembered I had a silver spoon put it on a 12ft surf rod and tried casting it, was awkward but worked. Pulled in the other lines and jumped into the kayak and head out. Bait was being busted all over the place and sharks were even busting the bait. It was really cool even had sharks busting bait about 5 ft from the kayak and won went under the kayak. I would guess that the sharks were in the 5 to 6 ft range (didnt get any pics because I did not have a dry bag for the camera) I started throwing the silver spoon and was soon hooked up with spanish mackerel. They ranged in size from 19 to 27 inches. The three largest ones are the biggest smaks that i have ever caught. Even caught a 25 inch ladyfish. It was really thrilling to be in the middle of this feasting, when it stopped in one place I just looked around and paddled to another spot. Finally got tired and figured I had enough. Bait was still being busted up and down the beach when I left. Utterly Fantastic Morning.

Those days are rare, glad your timing was right.
Good looking smaks, great for smoking.
