I have about 1000 +/- rounds of .223 "once fired" brass, about 2000 +/- .40 s&w, some 9mm and a handful of .357 & .38 Special. This was all collected at a private law enforcement shooting range. I would like to get into reloading so I want to sell or trade this brass for money to purchase equipment or trade for good used equipment (press and/or dies).

I want to relaod .380 ACP, .40 s&w, .243 & .223.

If you are interseted or if you have advice that would help contact me and we will talk about options.

Look at the Dillon press system. Awesome product and GREAT warranty. Get a book on reloading, read. Get a tumbler to clean the brass. Once you start, check check again and then check again every stage before you move onto the next reloading stage. I have been doing it for about 15yrs on and off. I could use some 40 but not sure when I would be at the coast again.

Thanks for the reply. I am a little scared of reloading .40- I have read about how sensitive of a load it can be for what ever reason. I have a .40 that I really like to shoot and, as you know, bullets are getting scarce so that is the main reason that I want to start reloading.

Carlos- If you are interested in some .40's I can send you a pic of what they look like and send some to you- if the price is right Laughing

I have been looking at the Lee press and dies. I really like the price as a beginner.

yeah send me a picture.

40 is a pressure sensitive round with little wiggle room. But as long as you measure everything you should be ok.

ALWAYS start towards the bottom of the load data and work up with a least 5 rounds fired before you change your powder load. Look for cracks, failure to eject, flat primers all indications of high pressure.

There are some really good reloading sites with good info.

ALWAYS ALWAYS VERIFY ANY LOAD THAT YOU FIND WITH AT LEAST 2 PRINTED LOAD MANUALS THEY MAY NOT BE THE SAME BUT THEY NEED TO BE IN THE SAME WINDOW.

I will be shooting them in a Taurus 24/7 compact.

Here are the pictures of the .40 Caliber. I also added a pic of the .223 if anyone is interested.

I've been reloading since 1975 and will be happy to help you get started. I suggest you get RCBS rockcrusher press, dies, good scales, etc. They have a pretty good "starter" kit that's got everything you need to start exept the dies. I've loaded .40S&W for several years and never had a problem. Also reloaded other pistol calibers and several calibers of rifles. Secret to reloading is take your time, double check everything, especially your powder load, and enjoy. Biggest issue right now is getting components, especially primers.
What do you want for the 1000 rounds of .223?

I agree with Cricket on all. Rockcrusher is a GREAT press. Would rather have the crusher than my Lee single stage.

If your loading a lot of handgun ammo or very often look at a progressive. The thought of loading 1000 45s on a single stage press at one time is well, like paying taxes, it will hurt and hate doing it.

But for starting off I would go with the crusher, you will learn what to do by doing it slowly. Start with pistol ammo, it is MUCH easier to learn with straight wall then bottle necks.

Benefits of reloading other than some cost. You can make custom low power loads to practice with or for a small frame person (girlfriend). Hot loads for hogs and such. My favorite, ultra accurate loads.

Go for it.

BTW the brass looks good

Sorry Cricket about the delay in getting back with you- I have not taken the time to get back on this web site in a few days.

I will go $75 for 1000 of the .223 just like they are right now. At the time of the pics the brass had been washed in water and a mild citrus mixture, rinsed off and left to dry. I have a tumbler that should be arriving sometime this week and I plan to run all the brass that I have through that cleaning process- after that I will ask $100 for 1000. Most of the .223 brass has the auto mark on the base. These have been fired once on a private law enforcement range.

Thanks for all the input on the equipment. I purchased a Lee single stage press from "Cheaper Than Dirt" about two weeks ago and I just recieved a set of .40 S&W dies. I am reading alot and looking for other components such as primers.

Cricket-
I have not messed with the cases in about a week so I was not sure how many I had. I think all I am going to have is 475 of the .223 cases. I will ask $35 for the 475 cases.
I thought I was going to be able to collect 1000 but after seperating everything out I think that I am only going the 475. I am going to have a load of .40 cal more than any other caliber.

No problem. I've been busy too and haven't checked the website in a week. I'll buy 475 .223 cases for $35. Let me know how to contact you so we can trade money for cases. Thanks.
