Was I the only one fishing this weekend?
From the lack of post it looks like it. It was a quiet weekend on the beach. My fishing partner and myself ended up at the 35mm Sat afternoon. The beach was very soft, at high tide, from the 18 on. Weed was a problem on and off all day. It was the old dead stuff that was on the beach at low tide. I was trying to follow Johnny French's directions to pomp heaven.
We brought home 2 slot reds, 1 pomp, and 5 nice whiting. all were cought on the long rods. all on fish bites except one red and it was on a small whiting on a pulley rig. This was my best catch todate. I will try to post up pictures. My digital died but we took the old 35. now we have to remember to get them developed.
I hope this helps every one on what to except in the next few days.

i fished the 17 sunday and i couldnt keep a line out more that 30 minutes. had one 12" whiting bitten in half but that was the highlight of the day.
there was actually some new weed at the 17. quite a bit of it. i was surprised. i wish there was a way someone could burn it or something while it's on the beach. |

Hi Salty Dog!
Good job man. Nice report. Shame the weed was a bother.
Also, it twernt you that gave me the now rod I cracked. That rods was, well lets just say, a widely sold brand.
I use the no name one, and came across the other you gave me today, and its a Rhino. It held up okay for 4oz on a OTG, which surprised me. The no name actually faired better, I pendelumed 3oz with it today in Mom's back 40. Held up good, but I wouldn't push it past 4oz I think with a pendelum. That different tip has me leery of pendeluming the Rhino rod.
Those rods still have a lot of good life in them and will catch alot of fish. Thanks again buddy! _________________ GOBZA!!!

I've been waiting to fish pins for 9 stupid months! I wish it could be fished year round with the intensity of the fall but it can't. PINS is a stupid heartbreaker, I hate it! Someone let me know when the fish are biting so I can go out there, ok. _________________ FIRELINE WILL ' GET ER DUN '! |

Boy was it a nice weekend with the exception to the weed. Didnt get to grind it out awhole lot being alot of my family going upthere this weekend we did still manage to get our lines wet though. It was almost picture perfect. Clear green water to the beach. Then there was the seaweed. Managed to catch several nice whiting on the smaller rods, nothing on the big ones except seaweed. My mom got into the action and skunked us on whiting. We told her she couldnt come fishing with us anymore! Seaweed was pretty much spotty everywhere we stopped. Saw 3 nice sized trout in the wade gut but they wouldnt take my offerings. We tried bobhall at night but i think we got there a tad too late as they werent liking live shrimp. Saw a few stringers so i guess the bite turned off prior to getting there. A guy next to me brought in a few nice ones using live shad. Biggest to 24. Tried croaker with no luck also. It was great to be there with the family and see everyone having a great time. Even if we didnt get to fish much. I cant wait to get back and hook into something. |

| You had a better weekend than I did. I painted two doors at the place, pulled weeds, etc. and I had to spend a night on that gambling ship in Port A. If only they would let you take a rod on board.....I might go back. |

| I fished at the 3MM from Thursday to Saturday, the weed was terrible. We managed to get three keeper trout on topdogs & around 15 bull whiting on dead shrimp. Also had about six skipjacks, 1 small ray, 3 small trout, & one rat red. I saw 3 different 20-25" trout swimming on the first bar but they would not hit. Also saw a 4' tarpon on the third bar while out in a kayak. Keeping the big rods out was just a waste of time, casting topwaters was basically our only option other than whiting fishing. |
