| i was given a penn surfmaster about three years ago by a friend. its a great reel. i have it loaded it with 30 lb big game and have it on an 8' american rodsmith surfrod. my question is this does penn still make these reels? i would love to get my hands on a few more of them. also if they dont make them anymore, how much is a reel like this worth? |

My buddy bought a few of those off of e-bay! He loves them! I told him to buy the Squidder and bought a few of those too. They both cast like champs! I'll just keep using my SpinFisher and Senetar. Can't go wrong with Penn!!!! _________________ When the going gets tough, the tough go fishing... |

Sorry I did'nt answer your qustion, from my understanding Penn does not make the SurfMaster anymore alot of those "old school" reels have been replaced. As a matter of fact all Penns are made in China now. I think the International is still made in the U.S.A. I could be wrong about that one. I have a buddy that works at BPS and Dicks and that was confirmed about Penn making everything in China. So buy up those Senetars ya'll!!!!!! _________________ When the going gets tough, the tough go fishing... |

A Surfmaster is basically a Squidder minus the chrome beauty rings. I’ve bought them on e-bay for as little as $7.00 plus freight. They are great for Bull Reds, Black Drum and small to medium size sharks. I’ve got a bucket full of Surfmasters, Jigmasters, Squidders and even a Levelline 350. Their all good usable and inexpensive reels for the average surf fisherman. _________________ one-upmanship is a fun game........and it's your turn. |

buy them up on ebay..best deal i recieved on an old was a Penn SuperLongBeach 68.. 5 bucks plus shipping.. practically brand new, even had the box.. probably manufactured in the mid 50's..
still can get all the parts for them.
they take a licking and keep on ticking.. oh that timex..
they take ripping and keep on clicking.. salt sand and all.
cant beat and old penn..
might have to check my facts.. but penn was bought out by zebco a few years back.. so last reels mfg in usa were probably when they stopped making the SS model spining reels in the early 00's _________________ Fish and Hunt Baby.... so tight lines and clear scopes. |
