The dargel is down for total make over im trying to decide what color to paint her. Mostly I drift flats and sight cast reds. I dont want a bright color that will refract a ton of light and scare off the fish before I can even cast to them. I was thinking of maybe a royal blue or ultra blue pearl on the siides and bottom and on the deck and console a lightish grey with the splattered color to match the boat..
This is what she looks like now
this is the color chart

I liked teal color. The inside was supposed to have a teal tint along with the webbing. It was white and would really be bright on sunny days.

Haze gray or that grey metallic that way you blend in with the shoreline and people dont see you as easy. A favorite color of the US NAVY. Or theres always pink. _________________ I LIKE MINE FRIED. |

Because darker colors absorb more light they also build up more heat. More heat over time will cause the polyester resin your boat is made from to break down faster. I like the light gray for the interior for less reflection and keeps the heat down.
IMHO

The "safe tread" sold by this company is great stuff too, and only $65 per gallon. No fumes, very easy to patch and works SUPER for antiskid on wet surfaces.

I would paint a school of escaping bait fish on the bottom hull so when the motor was on is looks and sounds like a feeding frenzy _________________ Fin in the wind |

| I would just reverse the colors - light blue on the hull and white spatter on the deck. |

Rpool nailed it. sky blue brother, blend in with the background and keep that deck cool. _________________

| I really like the light greens that you see on the new skiffs. (Haynie, Maverick, Mitzi, Hell's Bay) If it were mine, I would do the hull light green and the deck a light gray with light green splatter. I think all of those colors are too dark (except for the whites). I would check on more paints. |

I think they call that color sea foam. I like that look better than the sky blue though I understand the reasoning behind it. |

I used to build boats years back. One cool thing that I would do was to make the deck color or just the antiskid color by adding some of the hull color or hull stripe color [if the hull was white] to plain white gelcoat. Just enough to take the glare away. It makes a VERY cool effect on the finished product and you can do the same with any finish/paint type. It doesn't take much to cut the glare. Even a medium gray or tan STILL gets so hot in the sun that you can't stand on it without shoes!
I agree with IMS on one thing: I'd personally go for something that would blend into the background shoreline from a distance. Sure, sometimes there isn't a background shoreline, but then you are silhouetted anyway and it's a moot point. Might help to keep some potlickers at bay. With that type of craft and the ensuing normal water depth where you will be fishing, I doubt that hull color matters to the fish because you're not fishing under the boat but way out to the sides. Heck, even if you paint a hull sky blue and get beneath it in gin clear water on a sunny day it's not sky blue anymore in relation to the background. The bottom of the hull is in the SHADE which will make even a white hull look medium grey under the given circumstances. _________________ Dave
