Went over to St. Joe on Wednesday and Thursday in search of trout.
Finally found some late Wednesday morning on the surf side.
Caught five and lost three. All between 20-23. Solid surf trout. Soft plastics and live shrimp on a three way.
Went back Thursday for the morning shift.
Huge surf coming over the jetty in the middle made this a not so smart endeavor but I wanted to give that hole a shot and try to catch the early bite.
Only caught one. Second cast on first shrimp.
She went 26" @ 7.5#. Mega fatty.

I laid it next to my arm for a size reference and then smiled like jackass for the birdie. (disposable cheeseburger...)

She was full of eggs and I had plenty of fish to eat but she was bleeding from her gills. I questioned whether she would make it so I released her to the ice chest.
The surf soon became angry with Hawaii 5-0 style pounders pouring over the rocks like the old man and the sea had made a simple bet with the Kraken and I was on the wrong the side of the coin toss....(The Kraken lives in the channel...)
We bailed before we got stuck.
Getting back was, in a word, brutal. Memo to self. spikes...
Not scared. Alert. Lucky.
Yeehaw!!! Cool
