Lydia Ann channel. Island side of the channel between the old lighthouse and the ship channel. It's marked.

Before that ship was marked, we were floundering the north bank of Lydia Ann and decided to motor across to the island side. I was about 8 yrs old and my friend and I were standing on the front platform of our 18 ft flounder boat cruisin across the channel at 4am with our running lights. The running lights were bright and my friend and I saw the ship about 10 in under the water and before we could open our mouths.........WAM!!!!!

It only hit our lower end but it sheered the vertical drive shaft in 2. And thank goodness for our 4 ft tall strong railing around the front or us kids would have flown.

We made it to the island side with the help of the air motor. Picked up a few more flounder as we made our way closer to Port A. When it got daylight, we waved a bay boat down and asked for a tow back to Crab Man.

After the tow, my dad shook the man's hand and slipped him i think 50 bucks. But the man gave it back and said. "no.....but I will take your fish!"
