| Grey ducks can be anbd are both widgoens and gadwalls. In poor light conditions you can tell a teal, mallard, pintail or woody by body shape and plumage. Unless you have years of experience telling a gad from a widgoen at 60 yards in the fog is tuff.... lump them all togther and you have a grey duck. |

Gadwall.....small white patch on the speculum (rearward part of wings)
Widgeon....large white patch on the forward part of the wings. |
