Grey ducks can be anbd are both widgoens and gadwalls. In poor light conditions you can tell a teal, mallard, pintail or woody by body shape and plumage. Unless you have years of experience telling a gad from a widgoen at 60 yards in the fog is tuff.... lump them all togther and you have a grey duck.

Gadwall.....small white patch on the speculum (rearward part of wings)

Widgeon....large white patch on the forward part of the wings.

Duck hunters should be out in full force and I wouldn't jump in someone else's blind. Wherever I can find space.
