Got basically the same info via Hardscience regarding PINS with Cheyenne reporting big time coughing at the 7mm.

Stopped at the American Bank on the Isalnd this morning about 9:00a
tried to use the drive thru. I couldn't, coughed and burning eyes. Just went
outside on my back porch with the same results. I live behind the golf course, so must be getting blown in from the Gulf.. Mad

Damn it. Sure hope it doesn't come thru the Packery again.

Mike

I went out to SPJ last night and had to roll my windows up, and I could still feel it coming through the A/C vents. I have been through three Red Tide events on Padre Island and this is for sure the strongest airborne yet. It may be because of the rough surf spewing it up into the air. I'm seriously thinking of going fresh water for a while and just set up the horse shoe pit at Labonte Park this weekend. On a side note, I just got back from Northern California up in Humboldt County and the beaches up there have dead Harbor Seals everywhere(talk about stink). I do believe that is a man made problem though.
Also, the Eel river had signs posted all over the place saying that there is an algae bloom and it is killing dogs that swim in the river. It looks really bad.
We went to our favorite spot on the river up in Meyers Flat and the water has a weird blue/green glow to it and not a fish to be seen.
later,
Ernie

I went out to the Base seawall this morning to check on the red tide affecting that area. The aerosol affects made your throat tingle and slight coughing. I didn't see any slicks or discolored water, in fact, it was clearing up some. There was a bunch of finger mullet or shad in big schools flipping around the surface about 30 yds out from the wall and about 100 seagulls sitting in a group on the wall behind the hangers. It doesn't look good for the CC Bay waters either. I threw plastic a couple casts and had a few pin perch nips, but that was all.

I tried fishing today wedsday 10-21-09 at the packery north jetty.
Heard reports of finger mullet running in droves mon and tue and reds being caught, Different story today mullet were hard to catch. The water was off colored on the surf side and the channel was a greener color. The red tide was present and just unplesent to fish in ,There was a person that arrived when i did and he fished with artificials and slamed a limit
of trout and left them bitting, For the while i tried i didnt catch a thing.
Bait used live finger mullet and piggies. The person that caught trout was using a white worm and a clear DOA. Sorry no pics forgot cammera. Cool
